The introduction of SG Trade Marks Fast

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) — the introduction of SG Trade Marks Fast, an expedited examination route for national trademark filings in Singapore.

 

Effective from 20 May 2025, eligible applications filed under this programme may receive an examination report or notice of acceptance within 3 to 6 weeks. This provides a highly efficient route for securing trade mark protection in Singapore, particularly where time sensitivity is a consideration.

 

Key Features of SG Trade Marks Fast:

  • Shortened turnaround time for examination (3 to 6 weeks);
  • Available for multi-class applications, with the entire application benefiting from acceleration;
  • No need for pre-approved specifications or related patent filings;
  • Only applicable for direct national filings only; not applicable to Madrid Protocol designations.

 

Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify, applications must:

  • Be filed directly with IPOS as a national application;
  • Not be a certification or collective mark;
  • Include the request for acceleration and payment of the applicable fee at the time of filing.
